Customer Question

I've had a nasty cold the past few days and didn't eat much and was taking tylenol complete cold syrup every 6 hours for 3 days straight. Now I feel ok cold wise, but I'm having stomach cramps that feel like they go right through to my back. I've been having diarrhea and sweating perfusely. Could this be due to all the cold medicine on an empty stomach? If not what else could these cramps be due to?

This is Dr. David

cold medication on an empty stomach is not a good idea.

you can try taking maalox and mylanta and pepto bismal and see if these help calm down your stomcah

you can also try zantac or prilosec to help calm down stomach acid to see if these help settle your stomach

ginger ale might help

BRAT diet of bananas, rice, toast, applesauce, bland diet would be a good idea for now.

your stomach should get better with time

if it doesn't you should see a doctor for more testing

let me know if you have questions.
