I went in to doctor's office blood draw and cholesterol.

Customer Question

I went in to doctor's office for routine blood draw and cholesterol. Young girl poked 4 times and no blood. Went back today and different girl pokes 2 times and no blood. I drank a gallon of water several hours before both draws. They are sending me to a hospital lab office to have blood drawn next Monday.
Thanks, steve

Hi there,

I understand your confusion and hence this question.

The blood drawing skill is not the same for every phlebotomist.

It sounds these girls are relatively inexperienced.

Hence, they can miss the vein or puncture the vein inadvertently.

Some people have less prominent superficial vein system and hence can make the blood draw difficult.

Only an experienced phlebotomist can draw blood with some maneuvers.

This particular incidence does not suggest any vein disease or anything like that.

Do not worry.
