This is Dr. David

if your immune system is suppressed by methotrexate, you are more prone to getting infections.

shigella can be contracted from drinking contaminated water or eating contaminated food which is not properly cooked.

this can happen frequently in vietnam.

have you had the shigella treated?

I am still wondering about the RA and shegella you did not answer that part?

RA doesn't cause you to to have shigella.

but if you are on treatment for RA with methotrexate, this can suppress your immune system and cause you to be more likely to get infection.

were you on treatment for your RA with methotrexate when you got the shigella infection?
