Hi there,
This is Dr Basu, Experienced Specialist.
I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.
What type of exam you have?
Usually for colonoscopy or any minor procedures, you should not eat anything 12 hours prior to the procedure.
You can stay on liquid diet like soup, clear liquids prior to that.
Normal diet is ok until 24 hours prior the exam.
The following foods are allowed in a clear liquid diet:
Water (plain, carbonated or flavored)
Fruit juices without pulp, such as apple or white grape
Fruit-flavored beverages, such as fruit punch or lemonade
Carbonated drinks, including dark sodas (cola and root beer)
Tea or coffee without milk or cream
Strained tomato or vegetable juice
Sports drinks
Clear, fat-free broth (bouillon or consomme)
Honey or sugar
Hard candy, such as lemon drops or peppermint rounds
Ice pops without milk, bits of fruit, seeds or nuts
Best wishes,
It was my pleasure to help you today.
