Generally, adults will need seven to eight hours of sleep.
Some of the common symptoms with insomnia are-

You can try these OTC sleep medications-
(It is found in brand names like Nytol, Sominex, Sleepinal, Compoz)
-Doxylamine (brand names such as Unisom, Nighttime Sleep Aid).
You can follow these measures-
-Maintain a healthy diet.
-No caffeine after the last meal of the day.
-Begin an exercise routine in the morning rather than the night.
-Remove any televisions from the room. Stimulation such as watching TV before bed is not helpful for sleeping.
-Individuals can switch rooms when trying to sleep.
-Taking care of their mental and physical well-being.
-It is important to make a routine of going to bed at a specific time.
It is important that you avoid driving and other tasks where mental alertness is required, while taking an OTC sleep medication.
If required, then you may be prescribed with Benzodiazepine sedative hypnotic sleeping pills like estazolam (brand name ProSom), flurazepam (Dalmane), quazepam (Doral), temazepam (Restoril).
Also Non-benzodiazepine sedative hypnotic sleeping pills like zalepon (Sonata), zolpidem
(Ambien), and eszopiclone (Lunesta) can be prescribed.
There is a new type of sleep medication which works by mimicking the sleep regulation hormone melatonin, It is available by name Ramelton (Rozerem).
