Customer Question

Both of my feet are swelling. I have read about this online and most of the underlying causes are not good however I don't want to see a doc if it's just caused from sitting to long. I do have pitting and my feet have been swollen for a month now.

This is Dr Basu, Experienced Specialist.
I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.
Persistent leg swelling should be given some importance before discounting it totally.
Most commonly, long tanding or sitting can cause this.
The veins are incompetent causing blood pooling an swelling.
This type of swelling responds well to compression stockings upto knee length.
Also low sodium diet helps to prevent swelling.
Other possibility includes kidney disease --which initially can just present with leg swelling.
Less common causes include heart failure, liver disease, blood clots in the common iliac vein.
Usually other symptoms also present in these cases.
Hence, you should see your doctor for a clinical evaluation, although this may turn out to be just veinosu incomtency related swelling.
Best wishes,
It was my pleasure to help you today.
