if there is any suspicion of lyme disease or any lyme disease symptoms such as fever or aches and pains and joint aches, then lyme should be treated presumptively, even if the blood titer testing are negative.
another antibiotic can be used such as amoxicillin 500mg 3 times a day for 20 days to treat if doxycycline caused a reaction. Cefuroxime or Erythromycin can be used as well.
that would be the safest thing to do at this point if there is any suspicion at all for lyme disease
