I'm 30, male, have chronic fatigue syndrome but it's

This answer was rated:

Hi. I'm 30, male, have chronic fatigue syndrome but it's probably not relevant now.
My insides have always been fine. I've had trapped wind a handful of times in my life, including twice in the space of 3 days this spring. Both times it was high up, starting near the right, then moving to the left just below my ribs and staying there for about 8 hours maybe. Since then I've been fine but last week it came back in exactly the same way. About 10 mins after breakfast I felt it start on the right, then move left and get stuck. It's painful. I made the mistake of eating lunch and an hour later was sick. It didn't help though as the pain remained. Then I had another bout of vomiting an hour later and was pale and dizzy. This time the pain went and I was fine. I've been fine since, but eating carefully. I thought it was just swallowed air but I'm a bit worried all the same. Any ideas? Thanks.
khagihara :

It seems to be peptic ulcers or gastritis. You should try over-the-counter prilosec.

khagihara :

Any questions?

Customer: So you don't think it was trapped air? I noticed I was producing and swallowing a lot of saliva. But I've been fine since. Nothing to worry about?
Customer: Plus my tummy was making rumbling noises and after I was sick I felt air being burped up then the pain went.
khagihara :

Only swallowing air doesn't cause pain.

khagihara :

You may have peptic ulcers, acid reflux,

khagihara :

gallstones

Customer: As long as it's not worth bothering my GP with i'll be happy.
khagihara :

cancer but you are too young for it.

khagihara :

As I told you, try over-the-counter prilosec that is proton pump inhibitor and inhibits acid production.

khagihara :

If it doesn't work, you should see your GP.

khagihara :

Any questions?

Customer: But I don't have any symptoms any more.
khagihara :

That's good. Your symptoms could be due to swallowing air. If you develop pain, heartburn, nausea, weight loss, or a decreased appetite, you should try it.

Customer: I think it was just indigestion
khagihara :

Any questions?

Customer: I guess not
khagihara :

Are you satisfied with my answer?

Customer: Not really because I'm still worried
khagihara :

About what?

Customer: I don't know. In case it's serious
Customer: Maybe it's related to my chronic fatigue syndrome
khagihara :

If you have weight loss, it could be serius.

khagihara :

serious.

Customer: No weight loss. I first had it about 6 months ago. If it was cancer i'd be dead by now
khagihara :

Possibly.

khagihara :

You don't need to worry about it.

khagihara :

Are you still worried?

khagihara :

If you worry, you should see your GP.

Customer: well that's why I asked you.
Customer: I've had no symptoms in 6 months and no weight loss
khagihara :

You don't need to worry.

khagihara :

That's what I can say.

Customer: Ok thanks
khagihara :

Are you satisfied with my asnwer?

Customer: Yes
khagihara :

Okay. Take care.

Customer: :( feels like it's there again mildly
Customer: Oh well i'll see how I am.
khagihara :

Anxiety also causes burps.

khagihara :

If you have it

Customer: Yeah I do keep burping. I'm only anxious about it cos my mum reacted like it was something serious and got me all worried today!
khagihara :

Try to be relaxed.

khagihara :

Manage your stress.

khagihara :

Meditations, exercises, and so forth.

khagihara :

If you still have anxiety, you should see your GP. S/he may prescribe selective serotonin reuptake inhibior to you.

Customer: I'm ok. I think maybe trying to burp made me sick last week. I feel fine now. I think it was just indigestion of some kind. I'll buy OTC remedies in case it returns.
Customer: Thanks.
