I injured my right elbow in June while trimming limbs/hedges

This answer was rated:

I injured my right elbow in June while trimming limbs/hedges with a dull pair of clippers. Have noticeable pain in right elbow joint (scale of 4-5) when lifting weights over15lbs, when curling/lifting. Have been taking aspirin n aleve(NSAID) over counter to assist with pain. My Doctor advised rest of elbow w/no weightlifting and pain has not improved in 4months, do I need to go back for additional tests or continue to rest elbow with medicine?

Dr. Cameron :

hello

Dr. Cameron :

welcome to the chat

Dr. Cameron :

please type and hit reply

Dr. Cameron :

What do you do for a living?

Dr. Cameron :

I am waiting for you ;-)

Dr. Cameron :

I see that you are not online any more

Dr. Cameron :

If you have not noted an improvement after 4 months of rest, then you need to go back for additional tests

Dr. Cameron :

It is possible that you may have ruptured a tendon, such as the biceps tendon when you injured yourself

Dr. Cameron :

You need to see an orthopedic surgeon

Dr. Cameron :

You may need a MRI of the elbow and/or PT

Dr. Cameron :

You probably have a partial tear, but it still needs to be followed by a specialist

Customer:

HI Doctor, I'm retired.

Dr. Cameron :

hi

Dr. Cameron :

did you see what I wrote?

Customer:

Yes.

Dr. Cameron :

Does it make sense?

Dr. Cameron :

You should have improved by now if the problem required simple rest

Dr. Cameron :

If you have ongoing pain, you need to see an orthopedic surgeon and may need more specialised testing

Customer:

will set up an appt with my current doctor. Will the MRI reveal actual systems as my initial doctor suggested only rest?

Dr. Cameron :

yes, it will reveal inflammation and/or tear or other signs of injury

Customer:

Pain is greater after sleeping at night an waking up in the morning.

Dr. Cameron :

Unfortunately, I cannot examine you from this website- I can only go by your history. But if your elbow isn't significantly better after 4 months of rest, you need a repeat examination

Dr. Cameron :

I would go to a specialist at this point- there is not much your regular doctor can offer you

Customer:

Ok, will try to get my primary doctor to send me to see orthopedic doctor.

Dr. Cameron :

great

Dr. Cameron :

keep me posted

Dr. Cameron :

I will check in with you in a couple of weeks

Dr. Cameron :

I hope that I provided you with excellent service?

Dr. Cameron :
