If you start self-catherizing can you intermittenly urinate

If you start self-catherizing can you intermittenly urinate in the normal way?
Unless there is obstruction you should be able to empty the bladder with the cath
But you might not urinate without the cath
Is this what you are asking
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

I will just be starting to use a catheter until my urine flow is better after dilation of the urethra. Will the use of the catheter make me dependent on it or can my bladder start responding on it's own and I can urinate naturally as before the operation?

Straight cathing temporarily should not make you dependent on the cath.

You should follow your doctors instructions on tapering off the cath.
