My husband, age 81, has been on kidney dialysis for the past

This answer was rated:

My husband, age 81, has been on kidney dialysis for the past 10 years...(3 yrs.on peritoneal, then 7 yrs.Hemodialysis). He has done extremely well during all this time, but after a fall 2 weeks ago, his health has deteriorated somewhat. The Dr.has put him on warfarin, (flexible dosages) and his hip, although not broken or cracked, seems still extremely painful and he can only get around a bit with a walker. A new Dr. is looking after him, as his regular Dr. is away on a medical leave of absence. Should we be concerned that he may not ever recover his mobility and will perhaps require a more Long term care setting? He is sleeping many hours in the day, and about 12 hrs. at night and during his sleep time he does a lot of talking in his sleep.
Hello from JA
You should make sure he has adequate rehabilitation....physical therapy

And start thinking about long term will have a better idea if he responds well, or not , to therapy.
