Hi there.
Welcome to Just Answer and thank you for the question.
I am Dr.Abid a Medical Internist and will help you out.
Painful feeling in top of mouth along with burning sensation highly suggestive of nerve pain ,it will be wise decision to take pain killer if available like Naproxen sodium or Ibuprofen .
She should take saline gargles and avoid cold drinks or any other remides that can stimulate nerve.
If you have more questions let me know.
