I have been diagnosed hypothyroidism since 2000, take Levoxytho... .25 daily. Does Nature Thyroid need to be prescribed, or can I take as a supplement?

Hi there,
Thanks for requesting me.
There is no need for natural thyroid supplement since you already take levothyroxine.
Natural thyroid action is unpredictable since it is not regulated.
Hence, it is better to avoid natural thyroid.
Levothyroxine dose can be increased if needed.
Best wishes

taking .25 mg levothyroxin, I still experience some symptoms, like I am tired, puffy face, hair loss, etc. I have been taking levothyroxin since 2000, my question is: Is it normal for thyroid patient to take the thyroid medicine for life? And since I seem to experience some symptoms, do you think I should ask my doctor to increase dosage?

Ye it is normal to take thyroid medication for life.
Your symptoms do suggest the need for more levothyroxine.
Also selenium deficiency can make levothyroxine less effective.
Hence selenium 100 mcg daily may be helpful.
Best wishes
