My 27 year old healthy daughter, weighing about 115 lbs, is feeling like she has bad allergies or a cold. She took a 24 hour Claritin about 5 pm this afternoon, but then she took a standard dose of Nyquil about 11 pm tonight. Now she is worried she may have overdosed on antihistimines. Her stomach is fine and she is sleepy. Any reason to worry?

Welcome and thank you for your question.

Claritin contains loratadine while NyQuil contains acetaminophen, dextromethorphan, doxylamine and pseudoephedrine. These drugs do not interact with each other.

The only effect she will have is of drowsiness - this effect will pass off in 8-10 hours.

I hope this helps.
