The person affected is my son. He was diagnoses approximately 20 years ago. Right after he was diagnosed he received the antibiotic shots that was prescribed. All his joints are being affected, especially his hands. His legs and hands are both cramping really bad.

Sorry about the delay. I am at work and had to see a patient for a moment.....

I'm sorry that he has ended up with Lyme arthritis. I personally have had lymes disease twice and know from personal experience how painful the joint involvement can be.

Management of this pain can be difficult and I suggest that your son consult with a pain management specialist. Another option would be to seek treatment at a large university medical center.

Why go to a Teaching Hospital? Because at an institution like that your son could be evaluated and treated by a team of sub-specialists who are at the cutting edge of their respective fields. The best thing about these large teaching hospitals is that consultations are available with Professors and leaders in their field by just walking a few steps down the hall.

The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota is an excellent example of just such a place as this. That being said there are many excellent teaching hospitals all across the country and I am sure that there is one near your son.

If you could tell me what large city he lives near and how far it would be possible for him to travel in seeking treatment I would be happy to give you some names. Of course, your son could also ask friends and associates or check the internet yourself. Let me know what you would like to do.

I hope this information was helpful for you. But I do work for tips so I want to make sure you are happy with me before rating me. If you have another question on this or a related issue feel free to fire away. And please let me know if the rating system gives you any troubles.

Thanks in advance,

It is my understanding that you don't get over lyme's disease. He has been to the University of Colorado Medical Center for their study on lyme's, however they lost their funding for the study because of cutbacks.

Sorry you felt the need to give me a poor rating for doing my best to assist you.

That is not correct: I have had lymes, along with active lymes arthritis twice myself and I am over it....

If you want to consult with one of the worlds experts on Lymes Disease, you can contact my old Professor, Gary Wormser, MD. He has done most of the groundbreaking work on this condition and was who I consulted when I was infected.

I am sorry to see that you have given me a poor rating for the assistance I have provided. Ratings do not apply to system malfunctions...only to the quality of the expert.
I would ask that you give me a chance to provide you with further data so that you have the information you need to address your issue.
I would appreciate a good or excellent rating and will work hard to obtain it if given the chance.

I hope you will remove the poor rating by pushing the positive rating now.

I wish your son the very best.

Thank you.
