i took 2 Z pack pills at 12pm its 1o pm and my fever doesnt go down , taking co advil as well, can i take another antibiotic...severe throat infection
RickMD :

I am online and happy to help you with your question today.

Customer: hello im freddy
RickMD :

The Z pack antibiotics take time to kick in and, actually, continue to work for a few more days even after you take the last dose.

Customer: i weigh about 228 lbs and 6ft tall
Customer: i took 2 at noon but i still have fever
Customer: i was wondering if I should take another with my co advils
Customer: 250mgs
Customer: each
RickMD :

I would not expect that the antibiotics you took at noon today to lower your fever....it doesn't work like that. The Zithromax will kill the infection over the course of the next few days and your fever will then come down.

Customer: so the answers is no, correct? i should then treat the fever with ibuprofen or acetimophen
Customer: i appreciate yo taking the time to answer
RickMD :

You can take another. In adults you can take 1 tablet every 4 to 6 hours. Do not take more then 6 capsules in 24 hours.

RickMD :

You can switch to ibuprofen or acetaminophen if you want

Customer: ok thanks doc Ill take it at 1am to give it more time
RickMD :

Does this answer your question to your satisfaction?

Customer: yes. it makes sense
RickMD :

Ok

Customer: i continue to treat the fever with advil
RickMD :
