The first question was to clarify the location of the pain. Is it in the right upper abdomen close to the ribs?

Thank you for the additional information. There are many conditions that can cause such pain, but there are several conditions that are more common.
When there is right upper abdominal pain that is close to the rib cage, radiates to the back, and is worse after eating, the first conditions to consider is diseases of the liver or gallbladder. It is also possible that right upper abdominal pain could be due to an acid irritation syndrome, such as ulcers or gastritis. Pancreatic disease will usually cause pain in the center of the abdomen, but also can present with pain in the right upper abdomen. Kidney problems, such as infection or stones, will usually cause pain more to the side, but can occur higher in the abdomen.
Ultimately, it would require a proper evaluation to determine the exact cause, and if the pain is more severe at times, it would be more important to be checked sooner. Otherwise, it would be OK to try an over the counter medicine that controls stomach acid to see if it helps the pain, such as Prilosec or Prevacid.
