Hello,I can understand your anxiety.Carotid artery is studied on color doppler study. The value of internal carotid artery matters the most as it is the one which supplies the Brain. Measurement of peak systolic velocity {PSV} gives a fair idea about the degree of stenosis on doppler study. Normal internal carotid artery {ICA} PSV < 125 cm/s.< 50% stenosis: ICA PSV 70% stenosis to near occlusion: ICA PSV >230 cm/s and visible plaque and lumen narrowing are seen.Total occlusion of ICA: No detectable patent lumen is seen on grayscale ultrasound, and no flow is seen on spectral, power, and color Doppler ultrasound.I would also get MRI angiogram to see for degree of narrowing of the intracranial arteries {not seen on doppler study}.Wish you well.Good luck
