How soon can I fly after having pneumonia?

This answer was rated:

How soon can I fly after having pneumonia? I've been told I could be at risk for stroke or heart attack if I fly too soon.

Welcome to justanswer and thank you for your question.

Well, it is advised that air travel should usually be carried out two weeks after effective treatment for pneumonia. You need to wait for 2 weeks after complete treatment for pneumonia. Aircraft cabins also have low humidity levels which can cause dryness of mucous membranes and also the skin. It would not be safe to go for air travel at this time.

Take care. If you have any other questions, please ask them.

I am away from home and have a ticket to go home on Dec 12. So 2 days short of the two weeks you suggest. What do you think?

Yes, 10 days would be pretty safe. It will not do any harm. You can safely go home on Dec 12.

Good luck.
