Have you had an attack of diverticulitis earlier?
Do you have bloating, gas, tenderness, constipation, abdominal cramps, nausea/vomiting, loss of appetite, urinary symptoms?
Since when are your symptoms?
Any significant past medical illness or surgery?

Your symptoms can be due to;

1) diverticulitis; as you mentioned. Following would help'
a) liquids
b) probiotics
c) a course of antibiotics if symptoms are severe.
d) once the symptoms subside; high fiber diet.

2) kidney stone; this is the other possibility. This may not cause any urinary symptoms.

A CT scan would diagnose the issue. Your primary care physician can get it done.
