21 year old female is brought into the ER

Customer Question

A 21 year old female is brought into the ER. She was found unconscious in a park. Coming in she is clearly confused and disorientated but not entirely unresponsive to stimuli. You try talking to her but she doesn't answer (she doesn't speak English anyway). As her physician you suspect she may have had a head injury but you can't be sure, so you order an MRI. Under this scenario (before the MRI was even ordered), what would you do?

Would any doctor in their right mind skip over blood tests (toxicology, disbetes screen, etc.) before ordering an MRI?
Expert:  DrRussMD replied 6 years ago.
Depends on the exam
If they thought bleed they might go right to MRI
good luck again

I'm just puzzled as to why no records of blood tests are available. The woman in question was about to be given an MRI but was released from the hospital at the request of her guardian. It seems odd to me.

I have no idea
but if there are records they will only be released to the patient or the guardian.
good luck again
