VerifiedA CT scan of the abdomen is very effective at detecting an aortic aneurysm, so if the CT scan did not detect an aneurysm, there is little reason for concern. There are, of course, many different causes of abdominal pain, and an aneurysm is one of the possible causes, but the CT scan would exclude this possibility. A pulled muscle is another of the possible causes of abdominal pain, but there is no effective test to document the presence of muscular causes of abdominal pain; the diagnosis is primarily a clinical diagnosis. It is appropriate to perform an endoscopy to evaluate the cause of the pain. Another possibility as the cause of abdominal pain if there is no cause identified on evaluation is irritable bowel syndrome. At this point, it is appropriate to continue the evaluation, as your doctor is doing, but there is nor reason for concern about an abdominal aortic aneurysm.
