Are your stools black and tarry looking or dark brown?

Probably very dark brown and after a day the colour returns to normal. I am sure it is alcohol related

Thank you for clarifying,

As long as your stools are not black and tarry looking, then it is not worrisome.
Dark brown stools are fine.

Black stools are a sign of bleeding in the upper GI tract, which can be due to alcohol. If you notice that they do look black, this does need to be checked out by your doctor--gastritis (inflammation of the lining of the stomach, which can be caused by alcohol) or an ulcer in the stomach are two of the more common causes of black stools.

If you are not quite sure, have your doctor do a stool test for blood in the office.
