My son's blood pressure was 180/140. Need advice.

Resolved Question:

My son just had his blood pressure taken. It was 180/140. Should I take him to the ER, or can he wait until tomorrow to see his physician?

Hi, Welcome to just answer.

This reading of blood pressure is very high and potentially dangerous. It can lead to Central nervous system, cardiovascular and eye and kidney damage.

So I would suggest you to take him to ER for appropriate management.

Thanks. That was my thinking also. Just wanted to confirm that I was not over reacting.

Caring doc:

No, it should be taken seriously.wish him health and good luck!
