This answer was rated:

shingles? the pain is terible- under rib cage on left side only area about the size of 2 hands- seems to be spreading to a little bigger area today- about a week ago i had a few days of a "viral infection" a fever and just felt terrible like the flu- blood test was negative for the flu- so oc said it was a viris- intense pain in that area since then- have had all blood work- no infection- have had ct scan- negative for liver problem-gallbladder problems-spleen problems- diverticulitis- appendicitis- lung problems- no growths- masses ect- Still in intense pain- last week one of my co workers was diagnosed with chicken pox- he had never had it as a child- i had it as a child- could this be shingles?

The area of the pain, occurrence of flu like symptoms and previous history of chicken pox and absence of any other explanation make shingles a likely possibility.
You should get it seen by a doctor and discuss starting anti viral drugs because if started early these drugs can reduce the time period and pain of shingles.
