Green stools are most commonly caused by food moving through the bowel too quickly and now allowing enough time for the bacteria on the lower parts of your intestine to act on the green bile produced by your gallbladder. Usually with liver disease you will have darker colored stools.

Also with coumadin use, you will see dark black/maroon stools
