Had you had previous EKG's that were normal? How long have you been having the skipped beats?

Ask Your Own Medical Question
Customer reply replied 8 years ago
THIS WAS MY FIRST EKG, THE LENGTH OF TIME OF THE SKIPPED BEATS APPX 2-3 MONTHS OFF AND ON. THEY HAD NEVER REACHED THIS INTENSITY, THOUGH.
Doctor: Dr Chip (M.D.), Doctor replied 8 years ago

I take it there was no indication on the EKG of a previous heart attack, and you've never had symptoms of a heart attack in the past?

Ask Your Own Medical Question
Customer reply replied 8 years ago
NO -- SORRY I SHOULD HAVE MENTIONED THAT. ALL HAS BEEN WELL WITH ME , MY CHECK-UPS HAVE BEEN PRETTY ROUTINE.
Doctor: Dr Chip (M.D.), Doctor replied 8 years ago
Sorry for the delay. This may be of no real significance, and, without any previous EKG's, you may even have been born with it. It can be see after a heart attack, with heart valve problems, long standing hypertension, and cardiomyopathies. It will be necessary for you to see a cardiologist for more testing and possible medication. The skipped beats may not be dangerous, but, without being able to see your EKG, I can't say for sure. With no previous symptoms and, if there were no evidence of a previous heart attack on the EKG, as I said, this may be benign, but it does need follow up, and, possibly, medication.
