Welcome to JA - sorry you are going through this, let me opine.

The most common side effects of Pristique include:

- nausea

- vomiting

- stomach upset

- wt gain (which shouldn't be a problem since you've been on it in the past)

- fatigue/tired

- sexual dysfunction

- electrolyte abnormality

The most important thing here is that you've already taken pristique so if you haven't had side effects in the past, you likely won't this time around either.

Does this help?

will there be a delay in results with changing back to pristiq ?

we are also increasing the level from 100 to 150, as symptoms were still there but my dealings with people were more copmpassionate and less aggressive on pristiq.

prozac has made me more cold/ non compassionate

Doctor: T Khan, Doctor replied 8 years ago

THere should not be a delay in effect as both medications indirectly act on the same pathway so having prozac already on board will help the pristique kick in.

If anything, there may be a 1-2 week windows but most of my patients do not complain of this - but it is a theoretical risk.

the patient is my husband , he is feeling a little bit unwell and tired tonight.. i believ this is a side effect , experienced before.. he often show s signs of biploar ( not diagnosed) our son has ADHD (14yrs old now, diagnosed a t 3) ) using concerta 54mg.. is it likely that my husband might have the same disorder underlyning? bipolar? or ADHD we are about to see a new pysc. as our old one retired.
Doctor: T Khan, Doctor replied 8 years ago

Yes, fatigue is a possible side efffect as mentioned above - especially if he's had it before. Hey may indeed have bipolar as they often run together. If he does, he needs to be re-evaluated because pristique or prozac may not be the right meds and may actually trigger manic episodes.

thankyou, im just sumarising so i fully understand..

with him stopping prozac 20mg 2 days ago and going straight back to pristiq ( increased to 150mg) is ok, other than probably side effects already exoperienced.??

and averaging 2 weeks to settle

is that your suggestion?

we will be heading back for mental health plan and new pyc doctor , the same one as my son soon.

Doctor: T Khan, Doctor replied 8 years ago

That's a good plan, yes. The pristiq should be slowly increase though. He shouldn't go straigt to 150. I usually have my patients retstart at 50mg for 1 week, 100 the next, and 150mg the 3rd week.
