I have a sharp pain under my right rib cage when I bend over

Customer Question

I have a sharp pain under my right rib cage when I bend over at the waist. I have had Lyme since 2001; and just had a thumb-sized cyst removed from my ankle. I have long felt that the spirochetes are gathering in my gut area. This feels like something that should not be there. It only hurts when I get into that particular position. I am 58, female, active, basically healthy (except for Lyme, which I've managed to keep to a dull roar). Any ideas?

Pain on bending on waist is likely due to muscular pain. Pain on movements are due to sprained muscles (strained abdominal and waist muscles). Treatment is as follows;

1) passive stretching of the affected muscle after application of sprayed vapocoolant.

2) physical therapy; simple muscle stretch, augmented muscle stretch, post-isometric relaxation.

3) deep electrotherapy; iontophoresis, phonophoresis, short wave diathermy, electrical stimulation, high voltage galvanic stimulation, biofeedback.

4) local analgesic patch / ointment / spray

5) anti-inflammatory analgesics; Ibuprofen (Motrin / Advil)

6) ischemic compression therapy; pressure on the points

7) massage

8) steroid shots

9) acupuncture
