I had my gallbladder removed about 5 years ago.



Sine how long is the pain?

How severe is the pain on the scale of 01-10?

Is there any area of tenderness?

Do you have bloating, nausea/vomiting, pain on breathing, diarrhea/constipation, urinary complaint?

Is there pain when you move your upper back or shoulder?

Were any investigations done?

Any significant past medical or surgical history?

Are you diabetic, have high blood pressure, are sedentary, stressed, over weight, smoker, take alcohol? Is your cholesterol or lipid profile normal?

It has been getting worse over the past week.


Today about 6


Tenderness under the ribs at the front and back.


Bloating, and dark coloured urine.


No pain on movig upper back and shoulder.


No investigation done recently.


Gallbladder removed 5 years ago, a hernia was also discovered in this area.


Stressed and overweight


Don't know whether my cholesterol or lipd profile is normal, not been tested for some time.

Following would be the possible cause for your pain;


1) Kidney stone

2) Urinary tract infection extending to kidney

3) Liver inflammation

4) Peptic ulcer disease

5) Mild grade pancreatitis


Since it has been going on for almost a week and pain intensity is moderate (and antacids, analgesics and acid blockers are not responding), an ultrasound and a CT scan is essential for an evaluation. There are no over the treatment available except what you have done for it.
