Since when are you having these symptoms? Do you have any other diagnosed medical condition/ are you on any medication?
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
I started a new relationship about three weeks ago. About 10 days ago I thought I had pink eye, then about 5 days ago I started with these flu symptoms but it does not seem to be normal flu. I am on no medication, I am normally very strong and healthy. I am just feeling generally low, not much genital irritation, put that down to the usual after period discomfort.

I can understand your anxiety.
Please do not panic. If the flu symptoms do not go away after a week of taking medication than you will need to see a doctor. Generally it is viral and you get better in a week, bacterial one needs antibiotic course. You may than need a throat swab/ blood tests and x ray for sinuses to see for severity and type of infection.
You can have warm water gargles with pinch of salt/ have warm fluids, soup and coffee help/ stay hydrated/ take rest.
Please do not worry, you will be fine soon. Wish you well. God bless
