I have just gotten over a cold and fever but still have alot of drainage. Hurts pretty bad, feels like a cut when I swallow. I have tried Ibuprofen, but still hurts.

Sometimes after a cold a secondary infection can set in and this could be bacteria. You might well need treatment. Someone should look in the ear briefly and this will answer the question.

Helping the congestion drain as much as possible in the mean time--mositure, steam, even nasal drainage, might help. Fluids rest, tylenol, etc. but see a physician, nurse practitioner or anyone that can properly look at the eardrum.
