there can be multiple causes for lightheadedness including dehydration, low blood level/ anemia, ear infection, side effects of medicines, low bloodpressure. you should drink plenty of water, get complete blood count. have your bloodpressure checked during lying and standing to rule out postural hypotension. it may require compression stockings.

What other medical problems do you have?

What medications do you take?

What testing have you had done already?

Can you describe what you mean by lightheaded? Like you are going to pass out? nausea? dizziness? room spinning?

Hello. The vertigo/dizziness associated with lying down can be due to Parxysmal Positional Vertigo secndary to ear disease,as also Labrynthitis/Vestibular neuritis and a ENT assessment will be required to rule out this causeYoy will need a Tilt table test as also inner ear studies ..A cardiac cause caused by redistribution of fluids due to lying down and pump failure will also cause dizziness.Lightheadedness and shortness of breath on lying down need to be assessed by a Echocardiography to check for CCF/Pump failure.CNS causes like Small infacts may also be a cause.Cervical radiculopathy especially of the upper cervical vertebra also causes vetigo on lying down.Metabolic causes like Thyroid disease,Diabetes need to be ruled out.
