OK this is interesting. Have you suggested to the GP that you see a urologist for a second opinion?? That is the first idea I would suggest. A second opinion is always valuable. Next- have you been checked ofr diabetes. What usual tests were done by the GP. as you can understand that is important to me. What was your PSA. Are you on any medications.

How much in the way of fluids do you drink?

is the urination normal... is it in long steady streams or dribbles. How many times do you get up at night to pee.

My GP did refer me to a specialist but that will take another month.

Don't know the test names per se but he did mention that my bladder and

kidney function are fine. Whatever the tests were I gave blood and

urine samples twice. Don't know the PSA number,.....but again he said

that it was fine.

For 48yrs. I have been taking dextroamphetamine to treat my

Before this mess started, I strove to drink 2 litres daily ; primarily

bottled water. Now I drink considerably less, otherwise I wouldn't be

able to work. Consequently I probably am becoming dehydrated.

Normal urination.

A few times I only got up 3 or 4 times,...........6 or 7 times is

more common !!!!!

Is it possible that I have some sort of partial blockage that

prevents my bladder from emptying ?

OK I believe---that BPH--large prostate needs to be expertly ruled out before you go on any other fishing expeditions. you have age and symptoms. i am not sure why you say you will become dehydrated... what kind of work do you do??In answer to your question, the BPH WOULD BE THE BLOCKAGE... unless there is some other thing doing it like a tumor etc.
In our business we do say common things happen commonly...

Just wanted to say thanks.

Oh,.....and just for the record, my concern over possible dehydration

is because although I could be retired I'm on call as a physical laborer. It

keeps me in great shape and the money doesn't hurt.

Will let you know what the specialist says.

Thanks so much...You know if you drink large amts of H2O in the several hrs before bed, you would get up multiple times, and this would be worse with BPH.
