My arms keep "falling asleep" (becoming numb) at night when

Resolved Question:

My arms keep "falling asleep" (becoming numb) at night when I sleep. What could that mean? Other than menapause, I am in excellent health and weigh 120 (5'5"), very active, always have "lowish" blood pressure at my annual checkup. This just started recently. Thought I may be sleeping on them funny, but they even do it when I sleep on my back. Usually one or the other does it, not both at same time. I am taking normal amounts of ibuprofen for various aches and pains periodically--have not connected if this happens when I use ibuprofen. Thoughts?

How long are you having this problem?

In which part of the arms?

Did you have any test or treatment?

Thank you.
Customer: replied 7 years ago.

Just the last few weeks.

Hands and up the arm.

Have not had any tests or treatment.

Thank you for the information,

The numbness during sleeping can be due to pinching of a nerve or its root in its course , in the spine or in the limb.

Obstruction to blood flow from any posture is also a possibility.

The other common causes like low calcium or electrolytes, vitamins , thyroid diseases, diabetes, or any nerve diseases, seems less likely here.

You need to see doctor for an examination

If he feels some tests or imaging studies can be taken.

I hope this information will be helpful.

Please ask if you need any clarification.

Best wishes.
