I have in the groin area a thin red line that stings/itches.

Resolved Question:

I have in the groin area a thin red line that stings/itches. It comes and goes several times per year. It can appear on the left leg or the right.
It"s location is in the crease where leg is joined to body.

to another Dr., but he never said what it was. He never got close enough to examine the area. Also, by the time I could see a DR. the condition was clearing up. Skin wise I have actinic keratosis. My problem comes and goes several times per year.

Well, there are a couple of things to consider here. The first thing is that it could be due to sweating in the area or friction produced at the thigh creases between the folds of the skin that can lead to such a rash which responds well to the medications that you mentioned. Secondly it could be a fungal infection which commonly happens in these locations as well. Over the counter Clotrimazole cream can be used for a fungal infection.
