do you have any symptoms?
do you also know your blood urea nitrogen(BUN)?
are you diagnosed with any medical condition?
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
Glucose (fasting)was 103 in May
hyaline casts were above normal(0_5/lpf

Protein jn urine was 30 (1 plus)

From 5/55/09 blood report "BUN/creatine ratio is not reported when
the BUN and Creatine values are within normal limits"

Medicines taken:
Chloesterol Total =67

Triglycerides 133

Good afternoon,

Thanks for answering my questions.

Let me try to explain your lab report .-Hyaline casts as you mentioned are above normal, which are only slightly more refractile than water, are not indicative of disease and are primarily observed with small volumes of concentrated urine or with diuretic therapy; they may occur at a frequency of 10 casts per high powered field. So botXXXXX XXXXXne it is of no consequence.
Now you mentioned about your standard dipstick test which showed 30(1+).
The urine dipstick is not very accurate in assessing the severity of proteinuria(protein in urine) since the protein concentration is a function of urine volume as well as the quantity of protein present,so if urine volume is less ,then protein concentration appears to be elevated and can falsely show 2+ for example.
So then we do 24 hr urine protein which normally is 0-150 mg/dl and your lab came out to be elevated at 634 which further warrants investigation.
Now with significant proteinuria (>300 to 500 mg/day) or with standard urinary dipstick positive proteinuria (1+ or greater),the indication is monitoring and measurement of urinary protein excretion with either the albumin-to-creatinine ratio or the total protein-to-creatinine ratio on a random urine specimen.
There is a specific calculator method used for it and the results depends spot urine protein and spot urine creatinine.
The normal Urine Protein To Creatinine Ratio is less than 0.2 mg/mg.
Excessive creatinine as you asked can also be measured with 24 hr urine creatinine test which normally is between(NNN) NNN-NNNNdepending on labs.
I sincerely XXXXX XXXXX best of health and happiness.

DID YOU MEAN THAT THE 'excessive' range for creatinine is(NNN) NNN-NNNN
and that I am only borderline "excessive"
What are some of the problems from excesswive creatinine?

Thank you
Expert:  Dr. B. replied 7 years ago.
(NNN) NNN-NNNNis normal range of 24hr urine creatinine.

Excessive creatinine can lead to fatigue, muscle ache, swelling in body, very high levels can lead to renal failure which can lead to complications.
I would advise you to discuss with your physician about urine protein to creatinine ratio, which will tell us about renal function and excessive creatinine levels too.
