Hi, I have had this for many years but have not seen a doctor because I thought it was shaving cream. I do sometimes have flakes about the sides of my nose and inside my eye brows. Could this be some kind of eczema
Expert:  Dr. Chauhan replied 7 years ago.

Thanks for all the additional details.

Since this is being happening for quite sometime now, and you also have some flakes by the sides of your nose and inside the eye brows, seborrhoeic dermatitis could be a cause here.

Please have a look at this web resource for further details and I think that it would be quite helpful to you.

I hope that the information I have provided is helpful to you. Best wishes. Please feel free to enquire if you have any remaining concerns as it will be a privilege to try help you as much as I can.

Hi, my ears don't itch at all. Can you recommend over the counter creams I can try?
Expert:  Dr. Chauhan replied 7 years ago.

Thanks. Since your problem seems to be of a mild nature, using a shampoo containing selenium sulphide would be best option if it is available OTC. Lather it over the face and over the ears and leave it over for 5 minutes before washing it off. Maybe doing it daily for two to three weeks would do the trick and thereafter the frequency of use can be brought down to three or four times a week.

Some other things that are considered helpful are:

  • Avoiding hot food

  • Avoiding heat and sultry environment

  • Avoiding alcohol and spirits

  • Avoiding chocolates

I hope that it helps. Best wishes.
