Why does my chest hurt when I breathe in?

Resolved Question:

My chest hurts when I breathe in deep.

I am not sick, does this mean I am getting sick? Colds and the flu have been going around school.

Should I be concerned that its something more serious?

Where is the pain? No cough, etc.?
Customer: replied 8 years ago.

No cough, or sickness. I would say the pain is in the center of my chest

Expert:  Dr Chip (M.D.) replied 8 years ago.
Is there any tenderness where the pain is?
Customer: replied 8 years ago.
no tenderness

This is probably not serious.

If it hurts in the center of your chest, it's probably costoshondritis--inflammation of the cartilage that connects the ribs to the breast bone.

Antiinflammatories like Advil or Aleve should help it resolve in a few days. Of course, if you develop cough or fever, you should see a physician for evaluation.
