Hello. There are reports of people getting urticaria/hives after smoking marijuana. This may occur after some time,or may happen just after smoking. It has been suggested that the rash and itching may be secondary to anxiety and stress. It has been also postulated that a lipid transfer protien is involved in the urticarial reaction. You may just be sensitive to the marijuana ,or its smoke.Hence the urticaria.Use of antiallergics like Benadryl will help.Use of Allegra,Cetrizine will help.abstaining from smoking is thew only way to prevent this.

what kind of a skin test or medical test should i do in order to determine if it is the marijuana or thc that is causing the hives?
Expert:  Vakul Aren replied 7 years ago.
A simple test would be to stop smoking marijuana for sometime. If during this period there is no urticaria seen, then the logical answer would be that there is a link between your smoking the weed and urticaria. If on the other hand, you do get hives even without smoking, then the cause would lie elsewhere. You can also get allergy testing done for various substances including marijuana. However, the smoke would be different from the substance and may react differently in the body.
