What are symptoms of belly button cyst Have increasing pain/throbbing

Resolved Question:

What are symptoms of belly button cyst? Have increasing pain/throbbing in my belly button with very red and swollen looking inside. Hurts extremely when I push on bottom, seems to have lump. Is this like an infection or boil type thing? Will it go away by itself?

Your condition sounds like infected sebaceous cyst or boils. Both of these condition can present with similar symptoms. You don't seem to have any alarming symptoms at this time, you can clean the area with antiseptic solution and use OTC Neosporin locally. If you have pain then you can take pain meds too. You will see improvement gradually in few days, total recovery may take up to 10 days. Don't irritate the area and don't pop it off, it may drain on it's own.

Your email said you would like more information, what can I supply? I

s the possible sebaceous cyst directly inside the belly button or is it under the bottom . I once had a cyst

(forgot the exact name) in the vaginal area and it swelled to the point that dr. lanced it.

Is this a similar kind of increasingly enlarging lump (and it hurts like heck)! Been going on sporadically for about 3 wks. I am fearful that it is like that terrible boil thing of before.

Thank you for your answer.

To me it appears like sebaceous cyst or boils, sebaceous cysts are due to blockage of duct while the boils are due to hair follicle infection, both can present with overlapping symptoms, you can follow above instruction and see if that helps. Cyst in vaginal area can be sebaceous or bartholin. As you don't see any pus on it, you can try conservative measures for some times, if it does not resolve, you will have to visit your doctor.

Thank you. I feel much better at the idea that it might just drain itself, I do believe it is some kind of boil now, and I will follow your advice for the next few days. The throbbing

pain comes and goes and maybe Motrin will help till this is resolved. Thank you again.

I will hit the accept button after I send this reply. Thank you again.
