Good evening, I hope you are doing great. I would be happy to answer this for you. Congrats on the new vehicle! The 4wd process is quite simple,Put the vehicle in neutral, then place the 4wd selector into gear, and then place the transmission back into drive. When you are going back to 2wd do the same thing and then kick it in reverse for a few feet to disengage the driveshafts.Let me know if you have any further questions about this :)

What about the hub lock button on the dash? Press it first once or hold it or what?
Mazda Mechanic: Gabriel Grey, Auto Service Technician replied 4 months ago
if it has the auto hub lock then you just have to hit that once when you are shifting into 4wd, as you do so it will lock in the front axles

Do I press it again before disengaging or just shift out and reverse shortly like you stated
Mazda Mechanic: Gabriel Grey, Auto Service Technician replied 4 months ago
it will have to be turned off in order to disengage the hubs/axles. Some people keep it engaged all the time, but it is not recommended as it adds more wear to the front axles and differential assembly
