The car won't allow for me to turn the ignition. I get in

Customer Question

The car won't allow for me to turn the ignition. I get in the car with the key fab but the ignition knob seems stuck and there is a light on the dash that has a car and key icon that continues to blink on and off. I attempted to turn the car on manually but the key will not even slide into the ignition socket.
JA: Have you checked the fuses? The dashboard bulbs?
Customer: No. I wouldn't know how to do that. I just drove to work today with no issues and tried to move the car to another parking spot and this happened.
JA: What is the model/year of your Mazda?
Customer: 2008 mazda cx9
JA: Are you fixing your CX-9 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Nothing. Just to turn it on. I have no idea how to fix it. I didn't know it was broken
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: No

Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

There are several things that may be going on and it will require some testing to determine what is going on. If any of the key/immobilizer related components need to be replaced it's going to require a dealer level scan tool to perform the repair.

Have you tried a jump start?

Have you tried a second key?
