In the past 3 days, I have had to jump start my 2010 Mazda 3

Customer Question

In the past 3 days, I have had to jump start my 2010 Mazda 3 to get it started. Then last night, it happened again. This time, when I had it jumped, it stalled within 5 minutes...? I'm about to buy a new battery but will that help if it stalls once it starts? Isn't the alternator responsible once it's started? Perhaps the serpentine belt?? Thanks. Bob
JA: How many miles are on the car?
Customer: 88,000
JA: Are you fixing your Mazda2 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Not really mechanically inclined...only thing that I've done is to jump it.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: No. thank you.

Replace the battery and alternator. Make sure the terminals for the battery are clean and tight.
