2004 engine was replaced by Mazda 2005. Has only about 70K

Customer Question

2004 engine was replaced by Mazda 2005. Has only about 70K miles. Drives great then when I stop at a light, engine dies and will not restart.. Battery ok, it tries to turn over but nothing. Acts like it isn't getting fuel. Fuel pump bad?
JA: Has your car been stalling?
Customer: No, Runs fine, then dies. Idle level fine before it does it
JA: What is the model of your '04 Mazda?
Customer: rx8
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: No. it is at a dealer who says it is compression although they have done no diagnostic tests at all
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: I don't think so. I drive it aggressively and do not shift too early

Hi, welcome to Just Answer. I’m Ron and I’ll be helping you
today.
Before we get started though, Please understand that I don't know
your skill level or tools you have to assist us. Also understand that
I can't see, smell, hear, or touch the vehicle either, so patience is
appreciated. JA is a great Q/A site, but it does NOT replace a
repair shop.
My goal is to make you happy and get a great rating in return for
my time. Sometimes I have to give you bad news that I know you
didn’t want to hear, so please don’t shoot the messenger.

Let's check the fuel pressure with a gauge and also check for good spark at the plugs with a spark tester. If the check engine light is on, let me know that too.

Thanks, Ron

Thanks, Ron

Good, then let's do the other tests to see where we're at.

Thanks again and remember to rate me 5 stars and keep this link in case you need me again later on.
