My 1991 Mazda Protege overheats unless I turn on the heater.

Customer Question

My 1991 Mazda Protege overheats unless I turn on the heater. Can I remove the thermostat and run it on straight antifreeze to prevent the overheating. There are no leaks anywhere

Thank you for allowing me to help you with this concern today and am sorry to hear that this is happening. I will have to ask you a few questions so that I can get a better understanding as to what may be going on with your Mazda.

Yes, you can even though it is not the ideal situation.

How long do you plan on keeping the car?
