Customer: Engine runs rough at idle sometimes other times is fine. Lugs a little when it shifts into second (automatic). Only code is the misfire.

Hi .

The P0301 can be a few issue and i will list them for you .

  • Faulty spark plug 1..First check the spark plugs if not been changed in a long time replace
  • Faulty ignition coil 1, swap injector with #4.. clear codes rested ,If P0304 comes up replace the coil ..
  • Fuel injector 1 harness is open or shorted..Check wiring harness
  • Fuel injector #1 malfunction , as with the coil. swap with another injector on #4 clear codes test
  • Ignition coil #1 wiring harness is open or shorted
  • Ignition coil #1 circuit , bad electrical connection
  • Cylinder #1 compression low. check engine compression .should all be even with each other not more than 5% difference
  • fuel pressure low bad fuel pump.. Fuel pressure test
  • Intake vacuum air leak..
  • Catalytic converter damaged ..Exhaust back pressure test ..
  • Do the above checks and test and get back to me if needed.
