Customer Question

madza 3 2004 wont go any faster than 40 wont rev up to the 5th and 6 gear for speed. Took car auto zone for read 401,403,442,455,and 2187. In doing some research many madza reader think TMC needs to be replaced. Car has 220,000 miles on it.

Most of those codes are related to the EVAP purge solenoid- p0442, p0455, p2187. These codes shouldn't affect the way it runs.

The P0401, p0403 codes indicate a stuck EGR valve. What was pointing you towards a new transmission?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Was looking at the transmission control module. Driving under 40 miles it will not rev past fourth gear look for 5 and 6 it stays at 4.

Do think cleaning out EGR value may help
Expert:  Jared D replied 1 year ago.

You would normally have at least a p0700 code if there was a TCM problem.

Try unplugging the front O2 sensor and drive it and see how it acts.

If it makes no difference with the o2 sensor unplugged then unplug the EGR and drive it.

Ok should Erg be replaced or just cleaned.
Expert:  Jared D replied 1 year ago.

Most likely replaced, but it depends on how it runs with it unplugged. Did you try unplugging it?
