Hello, I'm Brandon - Mazda tech.

The control arm and the bushing is bad. You will need to change that to reduce the noise. It is also dangerous to drive the car with a bad control arm.

The whole control arm can be disconnected.

The part and labor will be around $400.

A tech inspected the suspension and rack and pinion and found no problem. He drove and said it is sway bar bushung are torn. A different tech at another place said that I need new struts
Expert:  internal88 replied 1 year ago.

If the sway bar is torn that will need to be changed. Did they use a pry bar to check out the control arm. This is the most important part of the suspension.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I'm not sure. I'm not sure which tech is giving me the right answer. Sway bar bushing one tech a different tech another dealership says struts
Expert:  internal88 replied 1 year ago.

Both sway bar bushing and struts can make the same noise over bumps.

I would recommend to ask another shop and tell them to check the control arm. This is the most important part and it is safety hazard if it break.

The sway bar bushing and struts are less important and it won't leave you in the middle of the road.

Therefore change the sway bar bushing since it is torn and also ask him to inspect the control arm carefully.

BUT you didn't say if it would be better to get fixed by mazda or non mazda. I'm going to look into one of the two that you recommended to get abother opinion but as far as getting it fixed I was asking would it make a difference
Expert:  internal88 replied 1 year ago.

No, it won't make a different if you went to Mazda or Non-mazda shop because the shop will buy the parts from Mazda dealer anyway.

Gottcha.

Expert:  internal88 replied 1 year ago.
