Customer Question

I have a 1996 Mazda B4000 4X4 with front axle hubs.
It seems to be stuck in low range.
The switch indicator on dash is showing BOTH 4X4 High and 4X4 low
what would cause this?

Hello, I will try to help you with your concern.

Are the low and high 4x4 lights flashing also?

have you had any recent work on the drive line?

are you experiencing the severe snow storm currently?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Lights are not flashing - they are both on/ steady
no recent work on the drive line.
we have had some wet snow here lately - but not severe

it is possible that the 4x4 shift motor on the transfer case could be at fault.

get underneath and lightly tap the motor with a hammer and see if it "frees" up

do you have automatic or manual locking hubs?

after that we will try to locate the relays involved in powering the motor and see what we can do there.

let's try the motor tapping first

I found the problem which was a blown fuse!!
Thanks for your help
